About La Bassine

A truly new concept in birthing pools, La Bassine was designed by a mum to create an intimate and soothing birth environment like no others. Read how La Bassine...was born!

"La Bassine was first created for the birth of my daughter in 2004. Having already experienced water birth in hospital, I wanted to enjoy the relaxing effect of water in the comfort of my own home. The choice of rented pools at the time always seemed too complicated to set up, took long to fill up, were heavy and last but not least, not really inviting. I could not picture myself giving birth in those pools. A friend working within the inflatable industry helped me to design and create my own special cocoon for labour and birth.

The midwives present at the birth were so enthusiastic about what my little boys named 'La Bassine', that they encouraged us to make it available to other mums-to-be. And so, in June 2005 La Bassine was officially launched in the UK and was rapidly acclaimed by birth professionals and more importantly by parents themselves.

I used La Bassine again for the wonderful home water birth of my fourth child, who was born in September 2005."
